Saving Water: Rocklin Car Wash Uses New Technology To Reduce Water Usage to As Little As 6 Gallons

One of the greenest car washes in the Greater Sacramento area is now dramatically reducing its water consumption.

Five Star Auto Center, a hand car wash that already uses less water than most traditional car washes, recently installed new technology to further reduce its water use – down to about 6-12 gallons per car depending on the wash. Typical equipment car washes use up to 60 gallons per car and home car washing uses as much as 120 gallons per car.

It’s especially important for consumers to understand if the car wash they are using is green. Many cities in the Sacramento region are asking citizens to use professional car washes versus washing at home. Some areas have already ruled no more home washing of vehicles.

Kaiser Permanente awards nearly $421,000 to organizations serving Roseville and South Placer County

Kaiser Permanente has awarded 56 grants totaling nearly $1.5 million to 54 local not-for-profit organizations, schools and government entities serving the greater Sacramento community. That includes nearly $421,000 to organizations in the Roseville Medical Center service area.

The Community Benefit grants – which range in individual amounts from $5,000 to $97,304 – are part of a longstanding practice for Kaiser Permanente, the region’s leading integrated health-care provider, which works to improve the health of the communities it serves in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties. Overall, the grants seek to improve access to medical care, support mental health services, reduce violence, develop the workforce and promote healthy eating and active living.

The largest allocation of funding will help the uninsured and underinsured access health care programs and services at various community clinics and organizations.
