The following special programs will be held during the month of July at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

July 2 and 16: IT Consultant by Appointment Only, 2:00 p.m. Participants can ask questions and bring their laptops or mobile devices. Samples of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Apple devices will be on hand. Time slots are limited so make a 15 minute appointment in English or Spanish at the information desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.

July 5: Sports-Themed Activity Sheets, 11:00 a.m. Children ages 6-12 and their parents or caretakers are invited to participate in sports-themed activity sheets like crosswords and word searches. Turn in your finished activity sheet to be entered to win a prize. All supplies provided by the library.

July 12: Animals! Puppets! Magic! Ventriloquism! 4:00 p.m. Enjoy this comedic and fact filled ventriloquist show where animals have amazing abilities and monkeys have five hands!

July 14: Pinterest Party, 4:00 p.m. Youth, ages 13-17, are invited to create emoji pillows, decorate journals and paint geometric shapes on canvas. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize. All supplies provided by the library.

July 14 and 28: All Things String, 6:00 p.m. This crafting circle is for anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or enjoys fiber art. Bring your current project or start something new.

July 16: Special Tot Play Time-Building Blocks, 12:00 p.m. Toddlers and their parents or caregivers are invited to expand their imagination by using different styles of building blocks. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize.

July 19: Carnival Games, 4:00 p.m. Children, ages 6-12, and their parents or caregivers are invited to come play carnival games that involve bean bag toss, giant Jenga and more. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize.

July 20: What’s Happening, Seniors? 12:00 p.m. Are you looking to get together with active seniors and make new friends? Come share stories, learn from one another and find out ‘What’s Happening’ in West Sacramento and beyond.

July 20: Evening Book Club, 6:00 p.m. Join us for a discussion of, A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler. Books are collected and distributed at the meeting. Contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.

July 21: Paper Flowers, 6:00 p.m. Create your own cork vase and paper flowers with supplies provided by the library. All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize.

July 26: Sports Bingo, 4:00 p.m. Children, ages 6-12, are invited to play sport bingo! All participants will be entered for a chance to win a prize.

July 27: West Sacramento Friends of the Library Meeting, 6:30 p.m. This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to serving the West Sacramento community through supporting library programs and services, and welcomes new members.

The following ongoing programs continue in July:

• Russian Story Time: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
• English Conversation Group: Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.
• Spanish/English Story Time: Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.

NOTICES: There’s still time to sign up for the Summer Reading Program! Sign up to receive a free gift at any of the Yolo County Library branches.

Yolo County Library branches will be closed on July 4 in observation of Independence Day.

On July 20, all Yolo County Library branches will only be open from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. due to an All Staff Meeting.
