New York Times bestselling author and his tail-wagging ambassador and service dog support RRUFF Healing Heroes Program

New York Times best-selling author Luis Carlos Montalván and his service dog “Tuesday” will visit Rocklin to share their story of courage and love. Hear how this extraordinary Golden Retriever and this wounded warrior saved one another. The presentation will take place at the Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd. on Sunday, December 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Copies of Montalván’s books, Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him & Tuesday Tucks Me In: The Loyal Bond between a Soldier and his Service Dog, will be available for purchase. Book signing and photos immediately following the presentation.

Former Captain Luis Carlos Montalván served 17 years in the United States Army including multiple combat tours. Throughout his years of military service, Montalván received several awards and honors including, two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge. Tuesday, his beloved service dog, is the recipient of the 2013-14 American Kennel Club’s Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence (ACE) – Service Dog.

“Because so many veterans suffer from many of the same PTSD and TBI issues as Capt. Montalván,” said Vicki Bottini Curtis, RRUFF Founder, “we want to be the catalyst that helps give veterans hope for the future. The success of the RRUFF Healing Heroes Program will greatly impact the commitment we have to the veterans in our local communities.”

All proceeds from books purchased at the event will benefit the RRUFF Dog Park Healing Heroes Program’s scholarship fund. Scholarships provide funding which will allow service dogs in training to be partnered with disabled veterans. Johnson Ranch Pet Rehabilitation Center will match all sponsors and donors contributions 100% up to $10,000.

This event is free and open to the public.  Reservations recommended. Please email rruff@rocklindogpark.org.
